IV Maintenance Infusions

Support after your initial treatment series

Some patients who respond to IV ketamine therapy may benefit from occasional maintenance infusions to help sustain symptom improvement over time. Maintenance treatment is individualized and based on clinical response, safety, medical history, and ongoing assessment by a qualified healthcare provider.

What are maintenance infusions?

Maintenance infusions are follow up IV ketamine treatments provided after an initial course of therapy. They may be considered when a patient has experienced meaningful improvement and symptoms begin to return or fluctuate.

Who may benefit?

Maintenance therapy may be considered for patients who have previously responded to IV treatment for conditions such as treatment-resistant depression or related mental health symptoms, when clinically appropriate.

How often are treatments needed?

There is no fixed schedule that applies to everyone. Some patients may return every few weeks, while others may require longer intervals. The goal is to use the lowest reasonable treatment frequency while supporting ongoing stability.

When to consider maintenance

You may wish to contact the clinic if you notice:
  • Symptoms gradually returning
  • Reduced motivation, energy, or mood stability
  • Increased anxiety, rumination, or emotional distress
  • A decline in daily functioning
  • Loss of benefit from prior infusions

Transferring Your Care to TKC

TKC welcomes patients from across Ontario who have previously received ketamine treatment at another clinic and are seeking ongoing care or maintenance treatment.
Patients who are considering transferring their ketamine care to Toronto Ketamine Clinic are invited to schedule a complimentary consultation with a member of our clinical team. During this consultation, we can review your treatment history, discuss your goals, and determine whether treatment at our clinic may be appropriate.
Where available, patients may be asked to provide relevant medical records or treatment summaries from their previous ketamine provider to assist with clinical decision-making
A complimentary consultation does not guarantee eligibility for treatment. All treatment recommendations are based on an individualized medical assessment and clinical judgment.

Information used or disclosed pursuant to this authorization may be subject to re-disclosure by the recipient and no longer protected. Ongoing care matters

IV maintenance is not intended to replace your regular mental health care. Patients are encouraged to continue working with their family physician, psychiatrist, therapist, or other healthcare providers as part of a broader treatment plan

Safety and monitoring

All maintenance infusions are provided in a monitored clinical setting. Before continuing treatment, the clinical team will review your response, side effects, medications, and any changes in your health.
